Oceanology International 2014 turned out to be a real success for Cygnus Instruments Ltd, with a large amount of interest in the new Cygnus DIVE wrist-mountable underwater thickness gauge.
Cygnus Instruments are the original pioneers of the Multiple-Echo technique used to obtain accurate metal thickness measurements through coatings. To further extend the range of applications, Cygnus Instruments has introduced Single-Echo as an option using a twin crystal probe.
The ability to use Single-Echo is a great advantage in certain applications such as:
- On cast iron found in water outfall pipes
- Anchor chain links and other types of round bars
- Where there is extreme front-face or back-wall corrosion.
Cygnus DIVE now has a bright color 2.8” AMOLED display which makes it easy to view by both the diver and his camera, even in poor visibility. The updated CygLink data logging, topside viewing and reporting software also allows the gauge to be controlled from the surface.
As well as Cygnus DIVE, Cygnus Instruments received a lot of interest in their range of rugged ROV mountable thickness gauges. Depth rated to 4,000 metres, they are extremely robust and ideal for use in the harshest conditions.
Cygnus Instruments are already planning for Oceanology International 2016 but in the meantime, we look forward to seeing you at one of the next upcoming exhibitions.
