Here at Cygnus Instruments, we provide a wide range of ultrasonic testing equipment for our clients, and these can be used in a variety of different industries. Every portable ultrasonic tester utilizes the reliable Multiple-Echo measuring mode, ensuring you receive extremely accurate results.
Whether you need ultrasonic thickness gauges for simple surface thickness measurements or ultrasonic hatch cover testers, we have you covered at Cygnus Instruments. Our wide range of ultrasonic testing equipment includes a variety of models, such as:
- Cygnus 1 Intrinsically Safe
- Cygnus 6 Plus Pro
- Cygnus Dive
- Ultrasonic Hatch Cover Tester
- Cygnus FMD System
Cygnus 1 Intrinsically Safe
The Cygnus 1 Intrinsically Safe is a simple and tough ultrasonic thickness tester. It safely measures the remaining metal thickness in hazardous and potentially explosive atmospheres. This gauge utilizes the Multiple-Echo technique, which we pioneered here at Cygnus Instruments, providing accurate, self-verified measurements. With this ultrasonic thickness gauge, you don’t have to remove any surface coatings either, as it can provides results through protective coatings.
Our Cygnus 1 Intrinsically Safe is ideal for use in a variety of industries, such as chemical plants, oil and gas, storage tanks, LPG vessels, road tankers, fuel depots, and more. Every ultrasonic thickness gauge is tested for safety and certified safe to ATEX, UKEX, CSA, and IECEx standards.
Cygnus 6 Plus Pro
The Cygnus 6 Plus Pro ultrasonic thickness tester boasts a wide range of useful features for professional users, including A-scan, B-scan, and comprehensive data logging. When used with a Cygnus High Temperature probe, this ultrasonic thickness gauge can measure remaining wall thickness of high temperature, in-service assets, without shutdown or isolation.
Our Cygnus 6 Plus Pro is ideal for use in a variety of industries, such as plant maintenance, civil engineering, ship inspections, and oil and gas facilities. Measurements can be taken on hot surfaces of up to 300°C with no cooling period required, reducing your inspection time, and facilitating more effective measurements.
Cygnus Dive
The Cygnus Dive ultrasonic thickness gauge is one of our underwater gauges. It is a wrist mountable underwater thickness gauge that is highly accurate and reliable. This robust wrist mountable thickness gauge provides an invaluable free hand while performing ultrasonic thickness measurement (UTM) underwater. It boasts a large and bright display with Live A-scan, which is easily viewable by both the diver and his camera, even in poor visibility.
There are only two buttons to press on the Cygnus Dive underwater thickness gauge, making it very easy to use. It is easy to navigate through an intuitive, user-friendly menu too. This gauge is ideal in a variety of industries and areas, such as hull inspection, civil engineering, marine structures, offshore platforms, underwater structures, and subsea pipelines.
This ultrasonic thickness gauges utilizes three different measuring modes – Multiple-Echo, Single-Echo, and Echo-Echo.
Ultrasonic Thickness Gauges
At Cygnus Instruments, we provide a wide range of ultrasonic thickness gauges for our clients. Our ultrasonic testing equipment utilizes the Multiple-Echo technique, which provides accurate and error-checked metal thickness measurements. The Multiple-Echo technique uses multiple pulses, providing verified thickness readings and allowing coatings of up to 20mm thick to be ignored.
Our range of ultrasonic thickness gauges and penetrant testing accessories now includes several PLUS+ models, which also utilize the Single-Echo and Echo-Echo measuring methods. These methods measure extreme corrosion and pitting on a surface.
Our range of ultrasonic thickness gauges includes our Intrinsically Safe model, for potentially explosive environments, Hands-Free for rope access, General Purpose, and the Pro model. We also offer subsea thickness gauges, for ultrasonic testing in underwater environments.
Ultrasonic Hatch Cover Tester
An ultrasonic hatch cover tester is a piece of equipment that measures the water and weather tightness of a seal in cargo hatches, covers, and doors. This piece of equipment is robust and durable, and it offers accurate measurements. It displays the Open Hatch (OH) value and the sound level in decibels and, to avoid any inaccuracy during use in enclosed spaces, it has six selectable power settings to prevent reverberation from nearby surfaces.
Our ultrasonic hatch cover tester is able to operate within a temperature range of -10 and 50 degrees centigrade, making us ideal for various applications.
Cygnus Hatch Sure
Hatch Sure is an ultrasonic hatch leak detector, which is able to perform a quick and effective evaluation of cargo hold hatch covers and door seals. This gauge determines if there are water leaks and weather tightness in the hatch covers. Our Hatch Sure model is ABS type approved and accepted by P&I clubs.
This ultrasonic hatch cover tester is ideal for use in cargo hatch cover, water tight doors, hold access covers, yacht and boat hatches, water tight seals, and more. It allows for a rapid and thorough test of hatch cover tightness and inspections can be carried out with cargo in place.
Cygnus FMD System
The Cygnus FMD system refers to our Flooded Member Detector (FMD), which combines intelligent, advanced software and electronics with a truly simple to use interface. This piece of testing equipment will be able to accurately determine is a space beyond the surface is dry or flooded, and it will report the result on the digital screen.
This unit is rated to 300msw (meters sea water, or 30 bar) and it can be supplied with a 350m umbilical cord if required. All results from this piece of equipment are logged for offline analysis, and reports can be integrated and exported in either PDF or Excel compatible formats.
You will find that the reliability of this piece of testing equipment is unprecedented and unparalleled, as it uses advanced peak detection algorithms and advanced signal processing.
